When people hear the words tantric or healing, they may imagine something intense or emotionally overwhelming. For those with a history of trauma, including relational, sexual, or developmental trauma, intensity is often exactly what triggers the nervous system into fight, flight, or freeze responses.
The Role of Safety
Trauma-aware therapy flips the script. Rather than seeking change through intensity, it places safety, choice, and nervous system regulation at the absolute centre of the work. The therapist serves as an anchor, helping the client expand their "window of tolerance" slowly and gently.
By slowing down and tracking bodily sensations, we allow the body to process bound-up energy without becoming overwhelmed. This is the essence of true somatic healing.
